Description: Today, 26% of adults in the US have the devastating condition of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), and only 4% have been diagnosed. Why is that first number so high? And why is that second number so low? In today's course, you will learn the physical, telltale signs and common symptoms of both OSA and its precursor, Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS).

But let's back up! We can expect a brighter future in airway health only if we can predict and preempt these conditions in infants and children. How? By positively influencing early facial development and tongue function. You will leave this course with tools and working knowledge to screen for pediatric and adult airway disorders and, at the very least, make confident referrals for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives - Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand screening tools for common symptoms of adult and pediatric airway disorders;
  • Understand the physical Signs of UARS and OSA;
  • Understand more on treatment modalities: CPAP, MAP, MARPE/SARPE, Inspire;
  • Understand the physical signs of breathing disorders in infancy, toddler years, and childhood;
  • Understand the concepts of mouth-taping, trainers, and myofunctional therapy;
  • Understand how and why releasing tethered tissues in infants can be an airway game-changer;
  • Understand when tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy matter and how to communicate with ENTs;
  • Understand how to communicate with medical professionals for better co-referral relationships.

Description: Despite the predominance of women in dentistry, a nearly million-strong industry, and the progress society has made towards equality, women still experience gaps in income, power, and representation. However, they face a far more fundamental crisis: the gap in knowledge about their health.

The Strong Mind Initiative will study the history of "bikini medicine," then explore aspects needed to comprehend how the female brain operates and any trials, hazards, risks, and opportunities for optimization it poses. This session will also look at critical diagnostic tools to maximize healthy brains and identify areas to prevent disease in women. It will look at the steps needed for women's brains to thrive, minimize their risks, and translate this information into workspaces. Women in Dentistry: Strong Mind Initiative will help attendees personally, as practitioners, and the millions of women they serve to start taking care of their brains and bodies for lifetime rewards.

Objectives - Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand when and why the female brain risks damage as we age;
  • Be able to carefully assess risk factors by applying diagnostic tools to increase brain health and identify areas to prevent disease in women, determining useful tests, and focusing on the screening process;
  • Understand the current hypothesis of bacteria, yeast, and the herpes virus that results in a cascade of events that leads to Alzheimer's disease in both women and men;
  • Be able to apply this knowledge in daily life as they make choices to protect their brains, bodies, and precious vitality from such damage while minimizing risks with evidence-based practices designed for women.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these CEs meet the requirements for my state?

  • Today's RDH is an AGD PACE provider recognized by all 50 states (including California). According to AGD's guidelines, live, interactive, and streaming events are considered a live CE as long as Q & A is offered at the end of each course. This event will be streamed live by Today's RDH, and the speakers will be available for Q & A after their presentation. All CE certificates issued will state this is a live event.

Are these CE courses considered "live" or "in-classroom?"

  • Yes, these courses are considered "live" and "in-classroom" and are recognized as such by AGD PACE because the presenters are presenting live (not pre-recorded) and will be available to answer questions from participants during and after their course presentation (i.e., "interacting with the presenter"). The certificate of completion (CE certificate) will state it was a live course.

Are these courses considered "clinical" or "core" classes?

  • To figure out if the courses are clinical or core, you need to check your specific state's Dental Practice Act, which gives the requirements and what is accepted.

Is this going to be offered any other days besides the day listed?

  • This event (courses/speaker lineup) will be live-streamed during the scheduled date and times only. There are no plans for it to be available for replay, self-study, or on-demand.

When is your next live, virtual event going to be?

  • We plan each live, virtual CE event one at a time. Right now, we aren't organizing and planning our next event, so we don't know. However, if you'd like to be the first to know when we announce our next event, you can sign-up for our email list by going to todaysrdh.com and sign up in the box that says, "Get Today's RDH Sent Directly to Your Inbox." We also offer on-demand (not “live”) CE courses which can be found here: https://dentalce.todaysrdh.com/

When will I receive an email with links to each course to log on?

  • Once you register for the event, you will receive an email with instructions on how to get your links for each course. Be sure to check your SPAM folder. In order to properly track attendance for the event, each attendee will have unique links to log in to each course: one link per course, for a total of four links. Do not share your links with anybody, or you will not receive your CE Certificates of Completion for attending. If you share, and more than one person is logged on using your link, the tracking software to verify how long you were in attendance for each course won't work correctly.

What is the latest to sign-up?

  • The latest to sign-up is an hour before the event or when it sells out.

Are there breaks?

  • Yes, there will be 10-minute breaks between each course, and there will be a half-hour long lunch break in the middle of the event. Please see the agenda for the times.

Do I have to sit and watch the whole thing?

  • Just like if you went to a dental conference and took CE courses, yes, it would be in your best interest to pay attention the whole time. If there are certain courses you don't want credit for, you can step away at those times. There will be breaks in between the courses and a lunch break. Please keep in mind, you must be logged in to each two-hour course for a minimum of one hour and 40 minutes per AGD PACE guidelines to receive CE credit. The webinar software tracks your time in the event, and there will be no exceptions made to those who do not attend for the minimum amount of time.

What if I only want a couple of the courses being offered?

  • These courses are being sold as a package. If you prefer not to watch or take a certain course offered, you are free to step away during that time and come back for other courses during the day.

Will these courses be recorded and offered later?

  • Because this is a live event, it can only be watched at the time listed.

Are there test questions at the end of each course?

  • Unless your state requires a quiz/assessment to be taken at the completion of live CE courses, there will not be a quiz. For those states that do require a quiz, quizzes for each course will be made available.

How do I get my certificate/proof of completion? Will it be emailed?

  • You will receive your CE Certificate of Completion via email within 7 days after the event concludes. It is very important that you use the same email address to log in to each individual course as you use to register for the event. If you use different emails, there is no way to verify your attendance with your purchase. Please note, you must be logged on to each course for at least one hour and 40 minutes per AGD PACE guidelines to receive CE credit.

Are there refunds?

  • Full refunds (minus Eventbrite fees) will be available through February 28, 2021. Starting March 1, 2021, no refunds will be offered. Please make sure you can attend before purchasing and that you have a strong internet connection.

Are these courses only for hygienists, or can doctors and dental assistants receive CE too?

  • These courses can be taken by doctors, hygienists, and dental assistants for CE credit.

Can Canadians receive CE credit for these courses?

  • Canada recognizes CE Courses that have AGD PACE approved providers, so yes. However, we cannot guarantee, so we always recommend checking with your governing agency to confirm approval.

Can we sign-up as a group, or does everyone need to sign-up separately?

  • Each person who wants to receive CE credit needs to register and login into each course individually. This is because CE certificates are awarded based on comparing who purchased tickets and how long that person attended each course.

Is there a cap on the number of attendees?

  • There is a cap of 5,000 attendees.

What is the processing fee for?

  • The processing fee is an Eventbrite fee they charge for using their software.

Do I have to watch this on a laptop?

  • You can watch from any device with an internet connection or data, including laptops, desktops, tablets, or your smartphone.

What happens if I get disconnected?

  • Click on the course link again and log back in on the same device with the same name and email. If you get disconnected again, try using a different device like a cell phone, but please make sure you are using the same name and email.

Are these CEs reported to CE Broker or CE Zoom?

  • Not directly. Just like an in-person conference, the certificate needs to be manually submitted to CE Broker or CE Zoom. To do this, you will need to upload the CE Certificate of Completion to your CE Broker or CE Zoom account.

Why aren't these CE courses free?

  • To offer CE courses at no cost, we would need to have sponsors (i.e., manufacturers/companies pay for our expenses), and this event is completely non-sponsored. There are costs for putting on events like this; an IT team to ensure the event runs smoothly, speaker compensation, software costs, etc., all while being mindful money is tight for people right now. For those who had in-person events canceled and are unable to obtain live CE events, this is still much cheaper than what people had paid for the canceled in-person events.

Can the course presenters hear or see me?

  • No, the speakers can't see or hear you. You interact with them through a live chat.

IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS, PLEASE EMAIL support@todaysrdh.com

If you are having difficulties registering on this page, please register directly on the Eventbrite page here.
