Annette Moody Smith, RDH, MSDH, is an Associate Professor at El Centro College. She has practiced dental hygiene for 21 years and recently received her master’s in dental hygiene from Idaho State University. Annette moved to Texas three years ago where Texas hygienists are not allowed to administer local anesthesia. She has become heavily involved in Texas’ legislative efforts and feels passionate about advocacy in our profession. Presently, she is the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association (TDHA) 1st VP, is a co-chair for the TDHA Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC), and the Immediate Past President of her local component. Annette resides in Dallas with her husband and four children. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, running, and learning new things.
